What is tufting?
When people first see a tufting set up they are often intrigued in what tufting is. Tufting is a form of rug making that has been around for many years. Using a power assisted tufting machine, you shoot yarn into woven fabric to create a fluffy or looped rug. Tufting has been revolutionised in recent years due to the availability and affordability of industrial machines. Although the initial look of the machine can be intimidating, with the right pressure and angle you can create some beautiful and effective pieces. Its great to see such a traditional craft form adapt with modern technology to create a unique crafting experience.
What to expect!
In one of our standard 4 hour workshops you will have the chance to design and create your very own 40x40cm rug or wall hanging. We will walk you through the basics of the tufting machines and get you tufting within minutes. Although we get you started straight away we allow plenty of time in our workshops for you to relax, take your time and practise. You will be provided with top quality equipment including strong tufting cloth and a range of yarn colours to ensure you can capture all your details and end with a durable bespoke piece.

• An introduction to an AK-1 Cut Pile machine.
• Tuition on tufting techniques.
• The choice to project or free hand your design onto fabric.
• Help with design ideas if needed.
• A wide range of different yarn types and colours to chose from
Valentines Special Workshop
Introducing our brand new couples Valentine’s Day special workshop! In this workshop you and your partner will each make your very own 40x40cm tufted piece which will be transformed into a double sided fluffy pillow which is unique to you both. This workshop is perfect for those who wish to do something a little different with their partner, best friend, family or anyone of your choosing! After the workshop you will leave your pieces with us and we will carefully construct them into a fluffy, puffy pillow within 4 weeks.
What to expect??
- Learn how to use an AK tufting machine with help from our experienced staff. Although the machine can seem complex at first you will be tufting like a pro in as little as 20 minutes!!
- You and your partner will each make your own 40x40cm piece which will be turned into a beautiful double sided pillow!!
- You can make any design of your choosing!! If you’re stuggling with ideas we will be on hand on the day to help you design a piece you love.
- After the workshop we will construct your pieces into a plush pillow perfect for your home!!
- All materials are included in the workshop, including a whole range of soft yarn to choose from in over 40 shades.
