Throwing Workshops
Introduction to Throwing
Our 3 hour introduction to throwing is the perfect for those who have never tried pottery before. In these workshops, we will walk you through the key steps of making a pot on the wheel before hopping on your own wheel and giving it a try yourself. Focusing on simple forms such as cups, bowls and jugs, our tutors will be on hand to give help and advice along the way to ensure you create your vision. In this class you will make up to 4 pots each and we bisque fire your best two within 6 weeks. If you wish to glaze your pieces once bisque fired, we run pottery painting classes for returning customers every Tuesday evening and Sunday morning. (11+ years, Maximum of 8 people per class)
Pottery Progression
Our pottery progression classes are ideal for those who have done some throwing previously and are looking to hone in on their skills. In this class we focus on a more personal approach to throwing and creating in smaller 2 person classes. This allows for plenty of one-to-one teaching. Throughout the class we will be focusing on how to pull a tall cylindrical form to help us create more advanced forms such as tall vases and larger serving bowls.
Hand Building Workshops
Evening- self directed handbuilding
Our evening pottery classes are perfect for those who wish to get stuck in and have a play with clay. There will be some gentle guidance and top tips along the way to help you if you need it, or simply just see what you create. In these handbuilding classes you have the freedom to create, play, get hands on and let your imagination run wild!! If you’re unsure what to make we will always have some ideas on hand if you need it. Classes run every Tuesday 6-8:00pm! What’s included? 1kg of clay, 1 large (20cm max height) piece or 2 smaller pieces to be bisque fired, a range of tools and studio equipment
Build your own breakfast set
In this hands-on pottery workshop, you’ll craft your own functional breakfast set. Using pinching, coil, and slab-building techniques, you’ll create three food-safe pieces—a mug, a bowl, and a spoon. To make them truly your own, you’ll have the opportunity to paint and decorate each piece, bringing them together as a cohesive set. Ideal for both beginners and those with some pottery experience, this class offers a fun and relaxing space to explore your creativity. With step-by-step guidance, you’ll feel supported as you shape, sculpt, and decorate your unique creations. What to expect in this 3-hour workshop: – Demonstrations of essential pottery techniques, including pinching, coiling, and slab-building. -Hands- on practice with clay and sculpting tools. -Personalised guidance throughout your process. -Creative freedom to decorate and paint your pieces. -Complementary firing and glazing- We’ll take care of the finishing touches, and within 8 weeks, your finished pieces will be ready to use, admire, and enjoy!
Pottery Painting – Pre Made Pieces
We supply a range of blank pre made ceramics ready for a pop of colour! Choose from a range of bowls, plates, mugs, jugs and even pet bowls. You can book your space for £5 which also covers the firing cost of your item. Our pieces are priced individually ranging from £12.50- £24 which can be paid on the day. We use food safe glazes to ensure your pieces are functional as well as beautiful.
Returning Customer?
Are your blank pots looking for that finishing touch? Do they need a pop of colour to help them come to life? If the answer is yes then we’ve got you covered. All returning customers can join us for our glazing classes every Tuesday evening and Sunday morning. We offer a wide range of coloured underglazes for the more illustrative customers as well as a variety of different reactive glazes. Reactive glazes are the perfect alternative if you’re not feeling too arty on the day, the small crystals pop and explode whilst fired, allowing the kiln to do all the hard work. Join us for our pottery painting events where you can make your piece come to life! This class is for those who have joined us previously for one of our pottery workshops and wish to glaze them in our range of reactive glazes and underglazes.
Self Directed
Our ‘Give it a throw’ classes are perfect for those who love to learn hands on, in their own time. You can focus on building on your throwing technique or just have a mindful time in the studio, these 3 hours are all about going at your own pace, trying out new things and having some time to relax and get potty!!
