Hand Building Workshops

Join us at Design Junction for, hands on, creative hand building workshops. In our range of different hand building workshops you will learn about the traditional techniques and decorating methods used in building ceramics by hand. Whether you’re a beginner, or have some ceramic experience, these laid back hand building classes are a great way to spend your afternoons.

Candle Holder

Craft your own functional ceramic tea light or candle stick holder in this handbuilding and glazing workshop. Throughout this 2h workshop we will be focusing on coil building/ slab building techniques to help you achieve your perfect handmade creation. You can also glaze your pieces using our range of stoneware underglazes. Your pieces will be fired twice and glazed within 6 weeks of your workshop.

Plate Workshop

In this 2h workshop you will learn traditional techniques to help you roll, sculpt and decorate your own plate. Whether you’d like a sectioned tapas plate, scrafito details or just want to keep it simple with a glaze, there are many different ways of jazzing up a simple plate! You will also have the option to glaze your pieces on the day using a range of stoneware underglazes. (13+) Please note: in this class you will make one plate per person, maximum of 30cm in diameter

Bud Vase

In this hands on workshop you will learn pinching and coiling techniques to help you bring your bud vase vision to life. You can add character to your small bud vases by trying a range of decorating techniques such as scrafito and appliqué. You also have the option to glaze your pieces on the day with a range of stoneware underglazes. (13+) Please note: one vase per person, maximum dimensions H 20cm x W 10cm. Your piece will be fired twice and glazed within 6-8 weeks.

Self Directed Handbuilding

Our evening pottery classes are perfect for those who wish to get stuck in and have a play with clay. There will be some gentle guidance and top tips along the way to help you if you need it, or simply just see what you create. In these handbuilding classes you have the freedom to create, play, get hands on and let your imagination run wild!! If you’re unsure what to make we will always have some inspiration dotted around the studio. Classes run every Tuesday 6-8:00pm! What’s included? 1kg of clay, 1 large (15cm max height) piece or 2 smaller pieces to be bisque fired, a range of tools and studio equipment

Kids Classes

We are currently developing a range of classes specially designed of kids!! Our new series of kids hand building workshops will feature an extra cute Jelly Cat Inspired Workshop, hand written letters workshop and many more. Check back in July to see our full range.
